Brian Thompson is a licensed attorney in Maryland and the District of Columbia and has over 10 years of experience in higher education, spanning administrative, financial, and legal arenas. Mr. Thompson joined the Office of the General Counsel as an affiliate member in 2014 and was appointed Assistant General Counsel in 2015. Previously, Mr. Thompson served as the General Counsel & Director of Sponsored Programs at an educational non-profit and government contractor in Washington, DC. Mr. Thompson’s legal practice has focused on intellectual property, government contracting, FERPA and other compliance issues, policy review, and the Maryland Public Information Act. Mr. Thompson also holds an appointment as Assistant Dean of the Graduate School at UMBC.
Mr. Thompson holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics & Information Systems from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), a Master’s Certificate in Government Contracting from The George Washington University, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland University College, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore School of Law.
